Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.
JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
About JEE (Main)

The JEE (Main) will be conducted twice in a academic session
The first attempt of JEE (Main) will be held in January, whereas the second attempt will be held in April, . The test will be held on different shifts/dates in both the attempts. The NTA will release the application form of JEE (Main) for the first attempt in September, and for the second attempt in February, 2019. The result of the first attempt of JEE (Main) will be declared by 31st January, and for the second attempt by 30th April,.
Mode of Examination
JEE (Main)-2019 will be conducted in the following mode:
- (a) Paper-1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
- (b) Paper-2 (B. Arch/ B.Planning): Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test –Part III in “Pen & Paper Based” (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet

Medium of Question Papers
The medium of Question Paper shall be in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
The option of question paper language should be exercised while filling up the Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage

There is no upper age Limit
Qualification for Examination
Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination.
Number of subjects in the Qualifying Examination (QE)
Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main). The candidates who have taken four subjects are not permitted to write JEE (Main) and if such candidates appear in JEE (Main) by furnishing wrong information, their rank/result will not be declared.

Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating through Central Seat Allocation Board
Admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board will be based on All India Rank. candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination

Eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE (Advanced)
The minimum academic qualification for appearing in JEE (Advanced) is that the candidate must have passed in final examination of Class 12th or equivalent qualifying examination.
